Airedale Group’s food and beverage division has increased its portfolio and market reach by partnering with a Belgian biotic producer.
The chemical specialist has agreed a deal to become the sole distributor of THT probiotics in the UK, including a bespoke blending consultancy service and including the supply of probiotics and postbiotics to offer complete biotic solutions.
Ben Bartlett-Wadsworth, Airedale Group’s general manager for food and beverage, explains: “Probiotics make up a huge share of the European supplements market, estimated to be worth almost €16 billion and set to increase by another 6% in the next five years and we’re seeing signs that the UK is starting to pick up on that trend.
“By partnering with THT we’re already in a fantastic position to meet that growing demand as consumers catch on to the benefits of probiotics and supplement manufacturers work to supply that customer base.”
Probiotics are used to improve gut microbiota and increase the presence of so-called good bacteria in the body which can help with women’s health, digestive issues and enhance pet food and animal feed amongst other uses.
Carmen Malnero, sales and marketing manager at THT adds: “We have more than 30 years of expertise in the formulation of biotics supplements for health applications and have enjoyed great success throughout Europe as understanding of the benefits of probiotics have become more widespread.
“We chose to partner with Airedale Group as their industry presence in the UK food and beverage sector as an ingredients supplier offers us the chance to penetrate a market which still has great potential for growth.”
Airedale Group, founded in 1973, is based in Cross Hills and provides chemicals and related services to the UK and Europe.
