Award-winning premium tortilla chip brand Blanco Niño secures national Sainsbury's listing

Blanco Niño, an innovative Irish producer of traditional tortilla chips committed to accelerating the transition to regenerative farming, has secured a listing with Sainsbury's.

This landmark deal marks Blanco Niño's third major UK retailer this year. From September, signature flavours with several Great Taste accolades —Lightly Salted, Chilli & Lime, Smoky Chipotle, and Creamy Jalapeño—will be available in over 150 Sainsbury's stores nationwide.

This expansion follows recent placements in Co-op and Whole Foods, enhancing Blanco Niño's UK presence. Founder and CEO Philip Martin launched Blanco Niño in 2015, inspired by his organic farm upbringing and a passion for traditional Mexican tortilla-making methods, The brand now operates in 16 European markets and is redefining the premium snack category in the UK with its award-winning products.

Lightly Salted (2* Great Taste Award (GTA) - White corn tortilla chips with Celestún Salt. We use the ancient Aztec cooking method known as nixtamalisation to produce corn tortilla chips. Each batch takes three days to make, producing a truly authentic texture and flavour. We’re proud to partner with small heritage producers in Mexico for our key flavours. For these chips, we source Celestún Salt from a social enterprise in the Yucatán, home to ancient Mayan salt flats. Our chips are made with the very best ingredients, are gluten-free, vegan-friendly and contain absolutely no artificial ingredients.

Chilli & Lime (1* GTA) - White corn tortilla chips with Ancho Chilli and Zesty Lime. We use the ancient Aztec cooking method known as nixtamalisation to produce corn tortilla chips. Each batch takes three days to make, producing a truly authentic texture and flavour. We’re proud to partner with small heritage producers in Mexico for our key flavours. For these chips, Ancho Chilli is sourced from a heritage farmer in Puebla, which is nicely complemented with zesty lime juice. Our chips are made with the very best ingredients, are gluten-free, vegan-friendly and contain absolutely no artificial ingredients.

Blue Corn (2* GTA) - Blue corn tortilla chips with Amaranth. We use the ancient Aztec cooking method known as nixtamalisation to produce corn tortilla chips. Each batch takes three days to make, producing a truly authentic texture and flavour. We’re proud to partner with small heritage producers in Mexico for our key flavours. For these chips, the amaranth is sourced from a small heritage farmer located in Milpa Alta, which overlooks Lake Texcoco. Together, blue corn and amaranth have a unique, subtly sweet and earthy flavour. Our chips are made with the very best ingredients, are gluten-free, vegan-friendly and contain absolutely no artificial ingredients.

Smoky Chipotle (2* GTA) - White corn tortilla chips with sweet and smoky chipotle. We use the ancient Aztec cooking method known as nixtamalisation. Each batch takes three days, producing a truly authentic texture and flavour. When fresh from the field it carries the name, Jalapeño, but when smoked and dried, it becomes a Chipotle; the key ingredient in the famous adobo sauce. Smoky and a little sweet, with a friendly kick of heat. Our chips are made with the very best ingredients, are gluten-free, vegan-friendly and contain absolutely no artificial ingredients.

Creamy Jalapeño (New product released Oct 2023) - White corn tortilla chips with our creamy jalapeño and fresh herb seasoning. We use the ancient Aztec cooking method known as nixtamalisation. Each batch takes three days, producing a truly authentic texture and flavour. The Jalapeño chilli is said to originate from Veracruz, a state on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico known for its luscious jungles and stunning waterfalls. Inspired by this little chilli and the wonderful food of Veracruz, we created these tortilla chips, wonderfully creamy and with a tingling warmth and subtle tang. Our chips are made with the very best ingredients, are gluten-free, vegan-friendly and contain no artificial ingredients.
