UK overtakes US as fifth-largest non-EU export destination for Spanish food and drink

The value of exports of food and drink from Spain to the UK reached €5.1 billion in 2024, according to the Spanish government. The country has now overtaken the US to become the fifth largest export market for these products outside of the EU.

To mark the milestone, 21 Spanish food and drink businesses will showcase products to attendees at Taste Spain London 2025. Hosted by Foods and Wines from Spain and Alimentos de España at The View, London, the trade-only event connects leading producers of quality Spanish food and drink with buyers from the retail, hospitality, and foodservice sectors, including importers, distributors, and independent specialists.

Visitors will have the chance to explore delicious products including Ibérico, DOP Teruel, and other hams, a range of cheeses such as Manchego, olives and olive oils, gourmet condiments and spices, preserved vegetables, breads, sweet foods, and more. They will have the chance to meet the people behind these products, and discuss opportunities in the UK market, where the interest in Spanish gastronomy has boomed in the past decade, with the opening of new restaurants and growing sales of a wide range of produce from Spain.

“This is a must-attend event for UK food and drink professionals to explore the incredible range of quality Spanish products on offer,” said Fernando Muñoz, Director Food, Wine & Gastronomy Department at Embassy of Spain in London. “There is real momentum in the UK market, and Taste Spain London 2025 will allow buyers to connect with the producers who will help them bring new lines to customers and develop this business further still.”
