Stockley’s Rekindles Appetite For ‘Impossible To Rush’ Treacle Toffee

The latest yesteryear treat rethought by Stockley’s is Treacle Toffee, otherwise known as Bonfire toffee, on account of its cult popularity during Victorian Guy Fawkes celebrations.

The latest yesteryear treat rethought by Stockley’s is Treacle Toffee, otherwise known as Bonfire toffee, on account of its cult popularity during Victorian Guy Fawkes celebrations.

The re-emergence of this altogether more involving, adult-leaning treat with a rich, earthier taste ties in perfectly with Stockley’s ongoing commitment to giving fresh impetus to yesteryear, nostalgic classics with short yet instantly gettable ingredient decks.

According to Stockley’s spokesperson Andy Valentine, ‘So many sweets these days offer an endless inventory of hard to decipher ingredients. We wanted to prioritise a close-knit huddle of yesteryear classics with a short, easy-to-comprehend ingredient decks.  We also wanted to champion a range of unrushed, ‘me-time’ sweets heroes that would be savoured not devoured; unhurried cult favourites that could be shared amongst friends and family, bringing back memories of old-school sweet shops and newsagents with their never-enticing displays of full-to-brimming glass jars.’

Stockley’s has long spied the opportunity to tap into its 100 year old start-up status for fine confectionery know-how to appeal to an older demographic looking to reconnect with its childhood, a back history that includes every conceivable sweet shop hero from Lemon Sherbets and Chocolate Limes through to Pear Drops and Cola Cubes.
