Lancashire-based food manufacturer Simply Doughnuts has announced the launch of its new Protein Doughnuts range.

Supplied individually wrapped and weighing 75g each, they are available in three flavours: Cookies & Cream, Hazelnut Swirl, and Triple Choc. They contain 11.25 grams of protein per doughnut.

The doughnuts are baked rather than fried, and they contain no added sugar. The Triple Choc flavour has a Nutri-Score rating of A, while the other flavours have a rating of B.  None of the flavours exceeds the HFSS threshold, meaning that retailers should face fewer restrictions in terms of product promotions and placement.

As with all Simply Doughnuts products, they have been developed to offer retailers extended shelf-lives in order to minimise food-waste and associated losses. They will last 9 months in ambient conditions.

The new Protein Doughnuts are suitable for vegetarians, free from palm oil and GM ingredients, and available to retailers in shelf-ready cardboard trays containing 8 individual packets. Their packaging is fully recyclable and they are VAT-exempt.
