Cool Swedish brands like IKEA, H&M, Spotify, and Absolut bringing us aspirational yet affordable products have been embraced and cherished by UK consumers.  Now UK whisky lovers are set to get a taste of Sweden’s best-selling whisky brand1 Agitator Whisky, bottling its own brand of Scandi cool.

A relatively recent addition to Sweden’s whisky scene, Agitator started selling its first whisky in 2021, and their growing portfolio of taste sensations has propelled them to pole position in their native Sweden.

With a range of aesthetically appealing candy coloured bottle labels, bottling incredible flavours that are the result of innovative distillation and maturation processes to deliver better taste, Agitator Whisky is launching its core whisky range on Amazon UK.

First to launch is Agitator’s first whisky, Single Malt, a 70cl bottle making its debut on Amazon UK. In the coming weeks, it will be joined by Agitator's limited edition whisky; Chestnut Cask. During the previous two limited releases, Chestnut Cask sold out at record speed. Now, the limited edition product will be back for the third time, with an alcohol content of 50% and available to the UK on Amazon.

Perfect as a gift for the whisky connoisseur in your life or to add an exciting, new Swedish flavour to your expanding whisky collection, Agitator whiskies challenge tradition and take an experimental approach to whisky making.

Better taste

Agitator prioritise flavours over traditions, meaning they never shy for unorthodox ways to create better whisky. Their vacuum distillation method, where low pressure in the stills lowers the boiling point, makes for a gentler treatment of the raw materials and more natural flavours and resulting in less energy being used.

Agitator whiskies are deliberately matured in casks made from different kinds of wood, a more unusual approach. While Scottish whisky regulations stipulate that whisky can only be matured in casks made from oak, Agitator has discovered that chestnut yields exceptional results, with flavour as well as with colour. Agitator’s experimental approach means that their casks have held anything from ice cider or orange wine to rum, mezcal or triple sec.

Introducing the Agitator Whisky Core Range

Agitator Single Malt Whisky – £49.90

Volume- 70 CL | 43% ABV

Text Box Tasting notes: On the nose, there is a lovely, light fruit, dominated by citrus, red apple and pineapple, together with dried fruit, coming from the sherry and chestnut casks. On the palate, there is a certain saltiness, with a peaty note, a result of our decision on how smoked the grain should be. This is well matched by a fruity note, also with apple and citrus. In the finish, there is a note of sweet vanilla toffee, mostly from the Bourbon and American oak casks, and it lingers pleasantly for a long time.

The product is a blend of whiskies matured on bourbon casks, new American oak casks, sherry casks, and chestnut casks.

Pairs with an apple cake or apple pudding.

Available to order from Amazon UK from 8th April

Agitator Chestnut Cask Whisky - £55.00

Volume - 70 CL | 50 % ABV

Description automatically generatedTasting notes: Agitator Chestnut Cask whiskey has an aroma of dried fruit with hints of sweet raisin notes and red berries. The ageing Agitator Chestnut Cask whiskey has an aroma of dried fruit with hints of sweet raisin notes and red berries. The ageing in chestnut barrels means that the taste is dominated by the same notes that you find on the nose. These are complemented by light notes of honey and vanilla, the latter of which comes from the aging in Bourbon barrels. The taste is quite long but finely tuned and gets a bit of a dry finish where the tannins of the wood come in. A slight smoky note is present in the background and adds complexity to the whiskey.

Agitator Chestnut Cask whisky is aged in chestnut casks, which is actually prohibited by "The Scotch Whisky Regulations". Scotch whisky may only be aged in oak barrels. The chestnut casks give the whisky a distinct character and a taste experience that differs from traditional oak casks. The chestnut barrels give a deeper colour and more tannins and astringency. But it also gives us complex flavours.

Pairs with Flavoursome cheeses and chocolates.
