The Lakes Chocolatier launches in the UK, following IWSC Gold medal win

The Lakes Chocolatier launches in the UK, following IWSC Gold medal win

The Lakes Distillery, a leader in new world whisky, today announces the launch of its limited-edition Chocolatier single malt whisky in the UK. The launch follows the recent success for Chocolatier at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2026, when it became the only English whisky to win a Gold medal. It was awarded 95 points from the blind judging panel.

A celebration of artistry and indulgence, Chocolatier draws inspiration from the refined palate and creative mind of the master chocolatier. Rich with deep cocoa warmth and luxurious sweetness, the whisky offers a layered experience that fuses the craftsmanship of whisky with the precision of fine chocolate.

Like all single malt whiskies from The Lakes, the intricate flavours of Chocolatier have been developed through the art of élevage and sherry cask ageing. Traditionally associated with fine wines and cognacs, élevage sees the whiskymakers make intentional changes throughout the spirit’s maturation to nurture desired characteristics. By altering the location and climate of maturing casks and combining whisky from different casks, the technique provides endless possibilities to evolve an abundance of new and intriguing flavours.

The Lakes Distillery was acquired by Nyetimber in the summer of 2024, bringing together two exceptional, luxury English drinks. The Nyetimber Group CEO and Owner, Eric Heerema commented on the launch saying, ‘The launch of Chocolatier single malt whisky in the UK comes at a very exciting time, following its success at the International Wine & Spirit Competition. We are honoured to have been the only English whisky to have won a Gold medal, demonstrating the fantastic potential for this category to compete on the world stage. Chocolatier is a prime example of how élevage, and the meticulous care of whiskymakers can help to develop incredible tapestries of flavour.’

This marks the first time that Chocolatier will be available in the UK, with a select number of bottles having originally launched with The Whisky Club in Australia. Chocolatier is a limited-edition product and will be sold as a retail exclusive in Amathus stores nationwide and online, as well on The Lakes Distillery website here. RRP £95 (70cl bottle), 51% ABV.
