Alcohol-free leader continues to push the boundaries of non-alcoholic brewing with the launch of its indulgent new pastry stout, Lesser Evil

Mash Gang, a leader in crafting premium non-alcoholic beers, has revealed its latest creation: Lesser Evil. This indulgent 0.5% ABV pastry stout is a masterful blend of rich chocolate, velvety oats, and a generous dose of sweet and sour cherry juice, offering a luxurious, cake-like drinking experience.

Lesser Evil began life as a collaboration named ‘Reign in Blood’ with Oslo’s Amundsen Brewery. And that dream truly came alive. Reign has become one of the highest-rated and awarded non-alcoholic brews of all time, setting the standard for non-alcoholic pastry stouts.

Stout consumption has been growing rapidly worldwide, with a global volume increase of 11% from 2021 to 2022, according to IWSR. The UK saw an even higher rise at 23%, driven in part by increased interest in alcohol-free varieties1.

Lesser Evil taps into this trend, providing the richness and decadence stout lovers crave whilst remaining non-alcoholic and vegan-friendly.

Lesser Evil is available in eye-catching 440ml cans, distributed through select retail outlets and Mash Gang’s online store. Its striking packaging and indulgent flavour profile make it a standout addition to shelves and taprooms.

Michael Baggs, Founder at Mash Gang, commented: “Pastry stouts are about indulgence, nostalgia, and pushing creative boundaries. With Lesser Evil, we’ve combined the dessert-like qualities of the style with the accessibility of alcohol-free brewing, creating a beer everyone can enjoy. Launching during the festive season feels perfect—it’s a time for celebration, and this beer is ideal for sparking conversations and evoking warm memories. Lesser Evil bridges indulgence and inclusivity, offering all the flavour without the buzz.”
